You may be a new Christian, a member of another Christian faith tradition, or a long time Lutheran looking for a new church home. No matter where you are in your walk of faith, Our Savior's welcomes you with open arms through various means of membership.
Baptism
In the Lutheran tradition, in Holy Baptism you are welcomed as a member of the Christian family of faith and receive the promises of God's forgiveness of sin and the gift of Eternal Life. Infants and adults can be baptized--and when you are baptized at Our Savior's, you become a member of Our Savior's.
When presenting a child for Holy Baptism, parents and sponsors (sometimes called godparents) promise to bring the child to church, teach them the Lord's Prayer, the Creed, the Ten Commandments, give them the Bible and instruct the child in faith.
Affirmation Of Faith
When a child matures spiritually to the point of making public affirmation of the Christian faith, they enter a "Confirmation Class" which typically is in the Junior High age group (Grades 6-8). Adults who have been baptized in another denomination in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and are a current member of another church, only need to spend some discussion time with the Pastor. You will become a member through affirmation of faith in Christ, and your stated desire to become part of the community of Christ.
Transfer
If you are currently an active member of another Lutheran Church, upon your request your membership will transfer to Our Savior's Lutheran church. Talk to Pastor about how to make that happen. It's that easy!
If you are interrested in becoming a member, or have questions, just call the church office at 712-322-6655 or e-mail at pastor@oursaviorscb.org.
